Volunteer Your Time
As a RAFT Volunteer, everything you do helps to support educators and saves them time and money.
From assembling educational kits to assisting members in our Green Room, your time will help educators and spread the use of hands-on teaching in our schools.
Take a RAFT Workshop
RAFT workshops are designed to enrich educational programs by facilitating the practice of hands-on teaching for educators working in a variety of settings and covering a wide range of curriculum topics. Our workshops include the use of our activity kits, design challenges, and other materials and tools common to maker-oriented learning environments. Many RAFT workshops count towards earning continuing education units through San Jose State University.
Individual Volunteering
Volunteering with RAFT supports educators, saving them time and money.
Please note: Volunteers must sign-up in advance. We cannot accommodate walk-in volunteers. Volunteers under 18 must bring a youth permission form signed by a parent or guardian.

Group Volunteering
Volunteers Make It All Possible
Volunteering as a group with RAFT is a great team building opportunity. It is fun and gives back to the community! Groups assemble RAFT hands-on activity kits, process donations, or assist in our resource centers. No previous experience is required and all necessary training will be provided. Groups can be accommodated Monday through Friday.
Options for Groups
Groups at RAFT
We welcome groups of 5 to 50 participants at our Sobrato Center (Sunnyvale Volunteer Center). There is a fee of $25 per volunteer. Please let us know if you have special considerations.
